I have my first XC race, this is the first time our club has joined the local league :-)

I am not sure if I will be any good at it, but it's a bit of fun! I worked from home yesterday and went to practice at lunchtime and to christen my new shoes (not spikes!). But that now means I need to clean them before Saturday's race, doh!!

First Birmingham League Fixture at Leamington, Ladies race first, then Men's an hour later with 3 divisions of chaps set off all at once - pretty much over 1000 runners, should be good! I will see if I can find a good photo to post from a previous year

Assume this the one you are doing Clare? :)

Welcome to XC Clare :) - after all the training you've put in lately, I reckon you'll be well up there.

ndellar - I think I've only run one XC to date where the ground was as thick with mud as that!

To be fair it wasn't like that all the way round, I did a National at Alton Towers one year where it *was* like the 2nd photo underfoot the whole way!

Yes Clare, see you when you lap me :)

Leamington course is great fu, especially the crowd banter at the ditch. Rd 2: St Helens for me this weekend if train dash from work to there sees me arrive in time. Have fun everyone.

Yes I think it's the Birmingham league we have joined Ndeller :-) I went over there yesterday to have a muddy pootle around and that ditch is already pretty muddy and water logged! I minced around the edge :-o!

I'm slightly relieved to be injured and not to have to run at Leamington... but enjoy it!

That Alton Towers Nationals was grim... (2011?). The senior men's race was shortened and delayed because of the time it had taken to remove all the juniors with broken ankles from the course.

Ooo you lot wait for parliament hill in Feb tee hee its amazing :)

Enjoy the first XC Clare. I reckon on starting steady and working through the field is best with xc in general... But then the starts can be congested so sometimes it pays to ahead of the crush ;) Enjoy the puddle all of you racing!
