Oh well that didn't work (twice) I'm sure if you google it you'll soon find them.

A local has just described the 10k course as 4 laps of mostly grass with a nasty hill, and 2 easier hills.

oi you
If they've had the same weather as here, it's going to be pretty muddy. Fortunately I'm in the first event of the day - before it gets too churned up.

Just checked last year's results M50-60 field was around 110 runners, quickest 37:15, slowest 1:06:56 - so I might not be last

Just got to find the place first!

Leek in the North Staffs League tomorrow, expect to see snow, if not on the ground at least on the hills in the distance! Brrrrr

Wow! I wasn't anticipating the Southerns to be so muddy but it was!

Fell over right at the start, losing a couple of seconds but it was the time taken for me to get back into the top 20 which was the real discount on such a narrow course! I was dead last and took me 4 minutes just to get into the top 15...

Worked my way through well and was composed - I was 14th my lap 2.

A little surge took me to 12th and I was with a Sussex athlete 'Stephen Ferroni" who was with me right from the start and a string of Kent athletes who were working through like Kenyans.

We saw the leaders about 30 seconds ahead of me - I realised that we were gaining on them!

He took us through to 10th and 9th, and I suddenly hit a wall.. all this catching caught up on me.

A downhill separated everyone out, and a sudden uphill got me to stride out on the crest. I was 8th.

Stephen being a sub 16:30 athlete on the 5k and a 4:15 1500m runner had the speed and endurance on me so got me at the end, and was just 30 seconds behind the eventual winner.

Left with mixed emotions; I wanted top 10 and I got 9th in a seriously classy field. Perhaps if I hadn't have fell over I could've gained another 2/3 positions. So for now, I still stay under the limelight.
