Isn't this just a ranking of GPs?

Contra to spin, seems so to me. Interesting read. cqc.org.uk |

what we're fed up about is that this has been published before they've actually done the inspections so it's actually a list of the results they think they might find rather than being based on any actual inspection

but that isn't quite right is it? There is 'seeding data' so to speak that has come from an evidence base. I found it interesting that concerns/issues I had with my old GP practice are exactly those that show up here.

Hey, my wife's practice has an average / above average score - I presume that means she'll receive a pay rise (rather than a pay cut, as last year), and be asked to work fewer hours! ![]() |

most of the indicators they've taken to create the list are either subjective - "the doctor was nice" or have been taken out of ciontext - a surgery I used to work at has been given a 3 because they don't have enough diagnoses of dementia - they are right in the middle of a housing estate of mainly starter homes and young families which hasn't been taken into account I'm pleased to report that we get a 6, but as I say, it's fairly meaningless as most of it doesn't reflect good or bad care |

I imagine some GP's will quite rightly get screwed by the CQC when they start inspections proper. There are some great practices (big and small) doing great work and they deserve some praise. Hospitals have sucked this up for years and it has improved quality and safety. Listened to a BMA representative trying to slag the whole thing off this morning. Didn't wash at all. |

we have no problem with the CQC inspections, or them seeking some way to prioritise those inspections, it's the publication of the priority listings without sufficient explanation that has caused upset. There are indeed some surgeries that need to be inspected quickly and action taken, however there are going to be patients worried to see their surgery getting a category 1 and then confused when they get an outstanding inspection result. It will make people doubt the reliability of the inspection process unfortunately

Just seen my GP's priority (1) and the nature of their failings. I am quite happy to know that the CQC will be in shortly. It seems to match our experience of the practice and I don't think they will get a outstanding inspection. I think it will lead to real improvement. Which is a good thing. |

The screening data measurement isn't really correct* as women between 25-49 are supposed to be screened every 3 years so it should be broken down into two age categories. *I'm guessing this is the QOF target so should be changed by whoever sets the QOF not the practices or this survey. |
