Hi ,
It looks like you're using an ad blocker.

The revenue generated from the adverts on the site is a critical part of our funding - and it's because of these ads that I can offer the site for free. But using the site for free AND blocking the ads doesn't feel like a great thing to do, which is why this box is so large and inconvenient. Some sites will completely block your access, but I'm not doing that - I'm appealing to your good nature instead. Did you know that you can allow ads for specific sites, whilst still blocking them on others?

Thanks,
Ian Williams aka Fetch

Other than heel striking (something I stopped doing) what can cause heel pain? I seem to get it the morning after every run these days.

I've heard that heel pain in the morning is a classic symptom of plantar fasciitis.

Steve,

From a running mechanics stand point....it could be from landing with tension in feet and ankles slightly forward of your GCM and then holding your body from falling forward to long. As richh said, you could be over working the other tissues of the feet which can also ache at the heel area.

Thanks both of you.

richh - yeah I was thinking the same thing so might take that approach

Jhuff - My POSE mechanics have a long way to go and I am catching myself landing with tension on my feet. I am getting more relaxed in my landing but have to keep reminding myself. I'll also focus on ankle alignment in relation to GCM.

I think I'll do some stretches and focus on alignment as mentioned above

HOD, I get no calf problems whatsoever now I'm there or thereabouts with POSE. When I first started, used to get heavy calves all the time. A clinic, then a couple of 1-2-1 sessions more or less sorted me out. I rarely have to worry about ITB or piriformis pain any more. Before, I used to get issues after about 1 hour of being sat in one position.
