Hi ,
It looks like you're using an ad blocker.

The revenue generated from the adverts on the site is a critical part of our funding - and it's because of these ads that I can offer the site for free. But using the site for free AND blocking the ads doesn't feel like a great thing to do, which is why this box is so large and inconvenient. Some sites will completely block your access, but I'm not doing that - I'm appealing to your good nature instead. Did you know that you can allow ads for specific sites, whilst still blocking them on others?

Thanks,

I just bought a used Garmin 310xt. I haven't had a chance to try it out as I'm sick (yes, poor me, send all your sympathies my way) but it looks to be in fine working order from what I can see from my deathbed. However, I cannot get my PC to recognise it or connect. It charges ok through the USB but the PC won't read it (my computer) and when I download the Garmin software, it does not find the device.

Does it need an ANT stick? The person who sold it to me says he never used the ANT stick but it just connected directly. I cannot understand what the problem could be. I have also tried cleaning the connecter bits (on watch and on USB cable) with an eraser and with rubbing alcohol, to no avail.

Anyway, assuming I recover from strep (no guarantees), I'd like to be able to use the software to save and review my workouts and also for easy upload to fetch. Any tips? Will an ANT stick solve all my woes? (well, apart from the strep).

Yes, you definitely need an ANT stick to send data from the watch to the computer.

See page 7 "Sending Workout Data to Your Computer" in the manual

Meant to say that the USB cable is only for charging the battery in the watch.

You need to go back to the person you bought it from !!!

It was me (well my partner) that it was bought from, and he definitely uploaded just through the cable. very strange.

It's definitely a 310 ? The 305 doesn't use a ANT, just the USB cable

aye definitely a 310. That manual is pretty unambiguous so not sure what's going on. Luckily we have a spare ANT stick (not from the 310- no idea where that one is as never had to use it) that we can send through :)

My 310xt didn't come with a USB cable, just the ANT.
