None at the moment. (It took me 10 years to ever join a running club!)

I've only done a couple of events, initially to learn something new and improve my map skills and general navigation. Particularly as a fell runner who has barely needed to use a map and so occasionally decide to brush up ahead of certain races. The only time I've got totally lost in a fell race was earlier in this year when the clag came from nowhere but the direction at that point was almost perfect due north so was dead easy to find! And as much as I know other very seasoned fell runners who say they've never used their map, I decided it couldn't hurt to try. But long story short, I don't know whether I'll continue to do lots or just an occasional dabble.

Hope people have been enjoying their orienteering recently :-)

If anyone fancies a weekend away in Durham (both events easily accessible by foot from the City Centre or by public transport), I'm helping with the below:

Durham in November (Night and Day) Weekend organised by Northern Navigators.

Saturday 16th November (evening) - Aykley Heads and Wharton Park. Night event on a mix of ornamental and ‘natural’ woodland and parkland near the heart of Durham City. Standard North East Night championship courses available as well as shorter options for those newer to orienteering and a longer red course for those who prefer a longer distance with less complex navigation.

Sunday 17th November (day) - Durham City Race, courses start/finish on the Mountjoy University Campus with most senior courses also exploring the historical centre of Durham. Standard urban courses available, as well as shorter options for those newer to orienteering.

All details are on the NN website - northern-navigators.org.uk and https://northern-navigators.org.uk/durham-city-24/.

Entries via RaceSignup.
