The bad weather arrived a bit later here than in the uk. It was very windy during the day yesterday, and heavy rain arrived as we pulled up at the hotel.
As we're in the car I booked hotels out of city centres on the basis we can ride/get public transport the rest of the way. But there was no way we were going out in that and the hotel restaurant was closed, so takeaway pizza it was. Judging by the string of deliveries while I waited it was a popular choice!
This morning we saw something we haven't seen since last Friday. Blue skies! Less windy too, but with lower temperatures. After a slow start to get some washing done (wearing all your clothes at once means you run out faster...) we headed out on a ride.
You can definitely tell the difference between Belgian and Dutch cycle routes. And for some reason my brain hadn't realised that there might be cobbles. It's been a while since we last did a proper Flanders ride!
Anyway, back to weather "treasures". I thought that this photo summed up a lot of what we've had over the last few days. A windmill for the wind, puddles for the overnight rain and today's bits of blue sky.
Then coming into Gavere I saw a rainbow, but that's usually a sign you don't want to stop for a photo as it's about to let go so I thought you'd need to take my word for it. And then as we got back to the hotel I saw another one, so I managed a photo
I also remembered on the ride that the other two times we've been to gent it snowed both times. So far we're clear, but there is a hint of it at the weekend...
This afternoon/early evening we'll do some tourism then tomorrow we're planning to get the train to the seaside. There will be ducks
