Gold

When I got data coverage back this morning I was standing outside the shop on the ferry. What's today's treasure hunt then? Gold, frankincense or myrrh? Where will I find that?

*Lightbulb*

We were a bit delayed getting to europoort but that was fine because we could only check into our b&b in Breda at 12. Breda isn't Belgium, but it's somewhere we hadn't been yet and as the next two nights are in a Brussels airport hotel we've stayed at twice before, and we only actually need to get there for tomorrow evening I thought we'd stop over for a bit of a change of scenery.

I then discovered that we are in the Gold Room :) the decor is also gold but our bags has exploded everywhere by the time I noticed!

We did come up with a plan for a bike ride that took us to Belgium though :) sort of. The town of Baarle Nassau/Baarle Hertog is a patchwork of enclaves within enclaves. Our route missed the centre of it but I did spot some of the borders.

On the way we went up the Goudberg for yet more gold :) I say up but only in a very minimal sense and I only realized it was meant to be a hill when I saw the sign. It was too cold and foggy to stop for a photo.

Dutch fog is very similar to Yorkshire fog...

We missed the centre of Baarle where we'd been planning to stop for food, but did find somewhere very nice shortly after. And on the way back we found Breda city centre. We'd been considering stopping and doing some tourism and getting more food but we were too cold really so just stopped for some gluhwein to warm up before rolling back to the B&B.

Got something to say?

I have definitely given up marathons this time.

Because I have discovered bikes...
