Finally some good cycling weather! Apart from a yellow warning for ice, that is, but that allowed me to have a lazy start and get today's yoga done.
The plan said 2:30 endurance, with 2x30 minutes at the upper end of z2/bottom of z3. I translated this to maybe a little longer, and earmarked a couple of sections where I could do a more sustained effort, albeit not for 30 minutes at a time. It would come out about right. And if I did too much I'd rather have my turbo sessions during the week adjusted than miss out on a nice cycling day.
I stuck to the main roads on the way out to give any ice on the back roads time to clear. Lots of traffic with people making the most of a sunny bank holiday, and lots of cars parked in the popular walking spots. I decided to have a stop at abbey tea rooms because I was in no hurry, got sat down just before an influx of people filled most tables and then ended up waiting ages for a scone (I did get a free coffee to apologise though!).
I'd been hoping for a Christmas tree with a view but didn't find one. I had some ideas in otley where there was both a big tree near the buttercross and trees in place of flags above shop windows. I got photos just in case, and you can (just about) see both in this one.
Then on the way home I decided to stop off at "Christmas tree corner" just down the road, which is where we get our tree*. The lights are there permanently but they only turn them on in the run up to Christmas.
449km in 7 days (probably 450 as I missed a bit yesterday). A good Christmas of training
*This is how it came home
