Today is New Year's Day, and it's all about resolutions. For many years I've had the idea that my "Favourite distance" by the end of the year should be 10km. I like the metric system and it's got a nice symmetry to it.
At the start of lockdown (that seems a very long time ago now!) I was running 10km every day before work, as I had an extra 10 minutes without my walking commute and could add a bit extra to my usual 8km run. But I've got lazy and it's slipped back to 8 or 9km as usual.
I'd also like to start doing a bit more strength training again (that seems to be a common theme in resolution blogs hereabout). I get some upper body strength and flexibility from pressups, situps and a weekly swim, but perhaps I should be more constructive about it. I used to do more when I was ironman training, it's definitely a help when you're on the move for 9 or 10 hours
In other news, I need to stop doing daft things like whacking street signs with my knuckles. I've steri-stipped it and wrapped it in tape now, but it'll be a few days before my grip strength returns (or I can go swimming).
