I was a sporadic jogger (at most) until 2006. Over the next year I started training seriously to get in shape, gradually running more and more until I was doing three to six miles every other day. I entered my first Half (Leeds) in 2007, and my first Marathon (Edinburgh) the next year. I was planning to just give one marathon a go, so I could say for the rest of my life I'd finished it, but I got the bug and signed up for #2 the day after (perhaps a little hasty, but no regrets!) I've now run six and cracked 3 hrs in October 2010! Took two months off with shin splints this year, and have had to build slowly back up from zero. Training smart to come back steadily and smash my PBs, starting with 5k and then work my way upwards. Check out my training blog: reasonstorun.wordpress.com
