Hi ,
It looks like you're using an ad blocker.

The revenue generated from the adverts on the site is a critical part of our funding - and it's because of these ads that I can offer the site for free. But using the site for free AND blocking the ads doesn't feel like a great thing to do, which is why this box is so large and inconvenient. Some sites will completely block your access, but I'm not doing that - I'm appealing to your good nature instead. Did you know that you can allow ads for specific sites, whilst still blocking them on others?

Thanks,
Ian Williams aka Fetch

Notes & Comments

Abingdon Marathon - first half went well, but thirsty and cool. Sun came out and became really thirsty and in need of sugar. Lucozade came round too later for me really (about 13 and 22 miles?). I thought the second bottle would never come. Did pick up a bit and back to running (slowly) after it kicked in. Learn to use gels for next long race I think! In fact I passed so many that had been dropped that I could have been away if I knew what to do with them. I did manage a few jelly babies (thank you to that lovely marshall that gave me two). I had some in my pocket but by 18 miles lost the will to open the zip!

Great to see frank, mum and dad near the end - nearly cried then! Did at the finish. F thought it was because I was slower than I hoped, but not at all, just tired and emotional (I had warned him!). He did manage to give me a big hug (been debating this all week as he doesn't like smelly post-running me!) Coped by wearing my coat - clever lad!

Phew it's over. Just the small matter of a wedding next saturday and I can relax...

:-)

Lovely (HOT!) shower at the end.

Thanks also to the guy who I asked "why are we doing this?" and he reminded me... apparently it's better than staying at home. I can't say that I agreed much at the time, but he was right of course.

The advantage of not running as well (fast) as I'd have liked is that there's lots more potential for a PB...
