Hi ,
It looks like you're using an ad blocker.

The revenue generated from the adverts on the site is a critical part of our funding - and it's because of these ads that I can offer the site for free. But using the site for free AND blocking the ads doesn't feel like a great thing to do, which is why this box is so large and inconvenient. Some sites will completely block your access, but I'm not doing that - I'm appealing to your good nature instead. Did you know that you can allow ads for specific sites, whilst still blocking them on others?

Thanks,

Notes & Comments

Friskney half - Was as flat as a pancake!! Had mixed feelings at the start of this as I knew from previous years results that very few women did this event and if I had a good run I could be in with a chance of a trophy. However, we turned up and there seemed to be more men than women so I wrote off any chances and decided just to run how I felt comfortable. Got off to a good start though and was pleased with 2M well under 8min/miling and therefore thought I'd see how long I could keep this going for. Decided I'd make it to 10k at this pace and then at 10k thought it would be great to get to 8M at under 8min/miling. Did have a couple of miles where I found it hard going and little aches were setting in cos of the flat and the mental drudgery of flat, flat and more flat with the same old scenery was becoming a little mind numbing. At mile 10 I was losing the will to live and was dissapointed with 2M where I tipped over the 8min/miling mark and was fast losing heart. The course turned and I took a little look behind me to see a sea of female runners all hot on my tail. This was the mental boost I needed and told myself I couldn't possibly walk now and needed to get the pace back uner 8 again. Had a couple of good miles then and slowed a little again in the last mile as legs were tired of the flat. Had a plenty left for a good sprint finish and it felt really good to have my legs moving in a different way that I wish I'd have picked up the pace earlier. Finished with the sea of females right on my tail managing 7th lady overall and taking home the 2nd Senior Lady Trophy :-) :-)
