Run > Race

Well after such a good run of form in the first 4 of the races this was the 5th of 8 races in the East Midlands Grand Prix Series...The Weedon 10k.
A very hilly course but I ran sensibly on the hills and made the flat bits and descents count and I did the first 5k in just over 20 mins then after 3 and a half miles my old knee prob;lems escalated again and I felt a very sharp twinge. My knee does not like hills so after the Corby 5 last week which was also hilly, this was the worst thing for it. I managed to keep going but it was very sore so I took my foot off the gas a bit and concentrated on finishing....eventually coming in in 44.19. If nothing else this race showed me how far I have come in the last 12 months as I would have been elated with that time a year ago.
However I am not despondant as I know what im capable of and every so often bad things happen in running.
When you fall off a horse you have to get straight back on again....So to race 6 in the series next week The Banbury 5....not so hilly so im told and an opportunity to get back on track.
