Notes & Comments

10st 3 5/8. Only one longer (6 weeks ago - only by half a mile) run since Florence 3 1/2 months ago! First aim was just to get round, so that was achieved. Nearly doubled my previous longest since latest comeback. Hoped I would be better than this though. Intended to set off at about 10 minute mile pace and try to maintain that, so why I set off at almoest 9 minute mile pace I have no idea! Just got slower and slower. Boring course didn't help. But it was also very flat so can't complain. I wonder if my problems are in my head? At least I know I can get to halfway in Boston. Was in a lot of discomfort for a couple of hours after the race. Had porridge at 5 am and two turkey sandwiches an hour before. Had isogell and half bottle of lucozade sport 20 mins before. Had iboprofen and paracetomol at 5am same again x 2 just before start and same again x 1 at about 10 miles. Had gel at 5 and 9 miles. 3 years ago I did this same race in 1.42! Saw Danny Kay who was doing marathon in a Danny The Legend shirt. He told me he was doing the Bath Half the following day.
9.03, 9.06, 9.17, 9.44, 9.44, 10.25, 10.51, 10.53, 11.09, 10.55, 11.43, 11.48, 12.39
