bedlam_g Next to no sleep for about 5 days going into this meant I was in zombie mode at the start. I was soon wakened from my slumber by a very tough race. The first 6 miles were mostly uphill running into a testing headwind and the second half undulating with the hot sun beating down. Apart from the couple of miles I ran this entire race completely alone the long straight roads meant I was able to see 4th 5th and 6th in the distance ahead of me (1st 6 win prizes) but although I closed the gap a little towards the end catching them was never on. Judging by some of the other times I didn’t too badly in the condition and though I missed out on a prize I had the bonus of not only being part of the winning team but also seeing the Bella girls also take 1st team.

Edmondo I think a three year gap made me forget how tough a course this is - last two miles heading back up the hill and round into Bowmore were killers. Luckily I ran with Kenster for 7 miles so we pushed each other on until he had a burst of energy to show me a clean pair of size 11's towards the finish. Not sure of my official time yet but my watch was 1.24.50 - 1 second outside pb. Given I wasn't exactly sure where the finish line was, I'll hang off reporting the time until it's confirmed, just in case somebody manages to lose me a couple of seconds! Really pleased for Iceblue who came storming into the finish to get a massive pb. Post-race prize-giving spread was very good - free beer and whisky always well received! 9th overall and part of 1st mens team with Bedlam_g MkIV. Picked up a quality

iceblue Started off well, felt good and kept up the pace until the end, slowed down in miles 5,6 and 12 where it was particularly undulating. Felt great coming off the downhill single track road and gradually picked runners off the whole way back into Bowmore. The heat and sunshine made it hard work but didn't seem to affect my pace today. Great island race, definitely one of my favourite races! Watch time.

kenster Harder race than I thought it would be,the first few miles were quite hilly and into the breeze ,was pulled along by Edmondo for most of the race which was a great help.Despite my shoulders being red raw with the sun I really enjoyed the race and am pleased with the time.
