About this parkrun

Two laps, used to be oversubscribed at 200 runners, I see it now gets nearer 500 weekly. The section along the canal side must be insane on the first lap. Cuts through the dog exercise field so expect aggrieved dog owners.

Grassy and canal path, it's sometimes easy to get lost on this parkrun if the really quick people leave you behind, but slower people may help to point you the rest of the way when they catch up. They hopefully have improved the signposting now.

Two laps of grass and woodland trail with about 600m along a canal towpath. Some open fields, some twisty trails, can be muddy in winter but is always a great run. Busy with 400-500 runners, cafe on site, but best is the Canal Centre cafe 1 mile away

Not one for me - twisty, horrible, crowded, tree-rooty loop that you get to repeat. I’m sure everyone is very nice there but another that seems to have outgrown its venue.

For those reviewers who did it a while ago: they’ve changed the route so it’s not so congested now. Still a very busy parkrun though and it’s narrow on sections of the canal. Get there early to park. It’s a pretty route I think.

Easy free parking. Friendly. Flat course on grass and trail.

It's busy, very busy but unless you are going for a PB (and it's a pretty twisty course anyway) then it doesn't really matter and spaces out on 2nd lap. Flat apart from gradual incline at the finish, canal path and fields, cafe on site, free parking.

Really busy for the amount of available space. Very hard to pass on the canal towpath. If you get in the right position can be quick though but watch out for those tree roots!
chunkywizard 24th May 2019

Not generally a PB course due to a good element of the 2 laps along the canal towpath which is fairly tight.
CloudrunnerO2 28th May 2019

2 laps on a mixed surface of grass, footways and towpath for a friendly 5k

My old home parkrun. 2 nearly flat laps taking in canal, field, woodland and trail, so not boring. Arrive early to park (free), good cafe and loos are always open even on Xmas Day and NYD. Trail shoes a must in winter. Not as busy post-covid.
hellywobs 7th Jan 2023

2-lap course on grass, trails and along towpath, twisty through wooded section. Since 2020 course has been reversed, so still busy but isn't the early bottleneck of the canal towpath. Can get muddy in winter. Toilets, free parking & cafe on site
Rookery 13th Mar 2023

Just go to Rushmoor instead.
