Hi ,
It looks like you're using an ad blocker.

The revenue generated from the adverts on the site is a critical part of our funding - and it's because of these ads that I can offer the site for free. But using the site for free AND blocking the ads doesn't feel like a great thing to do, which is why this box is so large and inconvenient. Some sites will completely block your access, but I'm not doing that - I'm appealing to your good nature instead. Did you know that you can allow ads for specific sites, whilst still blocking them on others?

Thanks,
Ian Williams aka Fetch

ktrose1981 This was tough, I was already so tired before the race both physically and mentally after the fourth day of running in a row, a tough 8 mile trail race the day before and not getting a huge amount of sleep in the week leading up to the event. Despite having managed to dry out my trail shoes from the day before my insoles were still pretty damp but this didn't matter as my trainers were saturated with mud and water within the first mile of the race. The first lap wasn't too bad and I maintained a pace between 9.30 - 10 minute miles but on the second lap I really slowed down. My right hamstring became very tight and my tired legs just wouldn't let me run any faster. On the first lap the muddy woods which had been so slippery in road trainers on the Friday night were not too bad in trail shoes but by the second lap when the mud was all churned up it was as slippery as Friday!
