Baza Ran this as I didn't want to finish the year on the bad run at Clova the week previous. Arrived with 3 clubmates on a wet morning to find out it was going to be wet and muddy...just how muddy we were about to find out. 1st 3/4 mile on tarmac then onto dissused railway line and stones, small rocks, puddles and eventually mud underfoot which slowed me down to ave7:30 pace. Slithered around mud for a couple of miles then hit a lovely puddle the whidth of the path and over ankle deep - no way to avoid it (I'm sure myRace.co.uk got a few lovely snaps at this point!). Next mile or so was on tarmac to the turn then back the same way. Feet were numb come the finish and I even kept the gloves on the full race - thats 1st in a long time!!. That said it was a nice route, very flat, well organised and marshalled and I'll be back again next year. Good to meet a few Fetchies again, and well done everyone on their hard runs

Big Al Widepants Mud glorious mud for the bulk of the route. I fell flat on my face at 4 miles which knocked the stuffing out of me. The sliding around was a killer as was the twice round the football pitch at the end. The puddles were extreme and after poncing around them for 3 miles everyone just had to wade through the massive lake at 5 miles. At least there was a solid stretch after that to the turn but the thought of what you had on the return journey was a little unpleasant. Actually quite happy with 1.45 even though I was going for 1.39.59.

jamesstewart13 Quagmire. At least 4 of the miles were across absolute nightmare, x-country style terrain. That said I enjoyed it! Time would have been loads better on a normal road-race...

Lea What a stinker, by 3 miles I was just hoping to get round the course, but I think I managed it in just under 2hrs, with Fitzers help, so that's a PB for me!

McNomad A semi cross country half marathon, what a puddle! I'm still a real whimp on the last mile though, still enjoyed the day out and great to get out and do a half this time of year.

Merry Christmas and Happy NewG(rrr) First ever half marathon. Very muddy, wet and a girl i spoke to said her GPS said 21.5K, so 300m too long! Very pleased with my time! Last 2m tired and didn't manage much of a sprint finish. Sore next day, but no probs on the day, just struggled last 2m. Prepped with a bit of deep heat on left calf (past troubles), general warm up etc.

Runnersleep This was quite a tough race - it was flat but much of the course was on wooded tracks and after recent rain it was very hard going - well for me anyway. I got muddy, wet and frustrated - especially the big puddle at about 5 miles and again on the way back, I was really looking forward to getting a soaking - not!. Having said that, it was a well organized race and my time was ok as I reckon I worked hard for it.

smckie New PB! Thanks to everyone who bet on me. Would have loved sub-2 but this was not a fast course today. Lovely race though, well organised and the jelly babies at the turnaround point were a great psychological boost.

SueW Sorry to anyone betting who has now lost points big time. Thta was teh toughest half I've done. About 3.5 miles tarmac, 3.5 miles decent farm track and 6 miles of boggy ground as we crossed Flanders Moss. It was tougher than this year's Forfar multi terrain race.
I had thought that I'd be able to run faster off teh back of marathon training but it was not to be on that course. Baza seemed teh only one happy with his time/run.
Well worth doing of you like challenging, off road running but not if you're after an end of season PB.
Well done to teh organisers.

z1000jeff Looking forward to this. Hope my dodgy hip holds out.

EDIT. Hip held out OK but ran a really crap race. I've never raced in conditions like that before and didn't enjoy it. Hopefully it will be better next year.
