Hi Shades, are you or anyone else taking part on Sunday. Otherwise it seems it might be just vava and myself. Training was going well until I did something to a muscle around the hip. Still not gone completely despite a bit of physio so a bit of the same this year I reckon. If I can run the first 9 miles and run-walk the rest, I am probably looking at something around 5:30. If it wasn't for the scenic course and a natter of two along the way, I probably would stay at home. It seems that the initial three mile loop has been dropped and will feature in the second-half instead. Didn't get anything in the post other than my race number so I'm basing that assumption on something I saw on the Nice Work website. |

Surrey Phil No, sorry I haven't entered this year. That sounds quite uncomfortable, I hope you can get round without too much discomfort. Hopefully you won't have the unseasonal weather that we've just had this weekend. Good luck. |

Sadly, I am withdrawing as I can still feel some soreness. Having not run for a month plus the inevitable pain in the hip/bursar wouldn't make it as enjoyable as usual. That's my ever-present run over! I did offer to marshal following a recent e-mail from Nice Work but they have enough. |

That's a shame Phil, spectating and a leisurely lunch instead perhaps.

After being a DNS for the first time last year, I am really looking forward to going back to Chelmsford in a few weeks' time. Looking at Nice Work's details, it will be interesting to see how the mid-race loop works in comparison to the first three-mile section through the residential and shopping centre when I last ran in 2022. I also spotted a slightly different approach to the finish line. |

Enjoyable race today although it didn't match my performance. Finished in 5:28 after cramping up at halfway. The three-mile mid-race loop seemed to work although it did throw me somewhat. For example, the ten mile marker was near to where halfway used to be, so my head was telling me I was 3 miles further than I was. Sounds daft but your mind can play tricks with you! This rectified itself after the second loop. Marshals were excellent and very supportive. The only pre-race queue was for the baggage. The 2022 issues regarding the toilets and t-shirt collection seemed to have been sorted. |

Well done @Surrey Phil that's a great result. I still haven't run this race, maybe next year. I DNS'd the one time I entered. |
