I tried acupuncture and osteopathy. Expensive and did absolutely nothing other than a slight placebo effect straight after treatment.

I must admit acupuncture has always worked for me. GP did say I could feel worse before better but my relief was instant and *touches wood* my back has not been sore since and this was a few years ago

The acupuncture Muttley describes is brilliant- I only had it once after a complete calf tear that a different physio had misdiagnosed and told me to run on, so it was pretty bad and the results of the acupuncture were basically as described in their post - although after about 8 weeks of no progress I was better less than seven days later.
I don’t think I believe in the other sort, but have never had it.

I thought it was nonsense, but when nothing seemed to be working on my back, my physio suggested acupuncture. It definitely helped, almost immediately, and really surprised me.
But, you know, N=1 and placebo effect...

Only tried acupuncture once years ago when my coach suggested it. 2 sessions left me with a spasm in my spine and 2 weeks off training. Tried Osteo afterwards which did nothing noticeable other than some very short term relief. Didn't really get why they focused on resetting my spine each time for a muscular problem, but I guess everything looks like a nail to a hammer. Finally went to a physio and it was sorted in 2 sessions with all the self help tools I needed to manage it to complete recovery.
Your mileage may vary, but I've always had better experience with straight up physio's, especially no nonsense NHS ones who really know their stuff.
