1) Stocking

This was the only stocking we had and Stan wouldn't pose for a picture as he could smell the treats and was too busy ripping !

2) A Boxing Day Tradition

A family walk along the riverside and a coffee afterwards.

3) Christmas Wreath

I did wonder about this one, because there seems to be so many more doorbell cameras than when we last did wreaths two years ago. Who wants to be caught on camera taking a picture of a stranger's front door?
Anyhow, my wife had made ours, so I couldn't possibly feature any others.

4) Lights

I had a few to choose from here:

One house with a net across the front which featured multiple LED's

Another where the owners always do a seasonal arrangement with their flowerpot men

Yet another on the estate with this illuminated dog on top of their campervan !

And finally at Cragside Estate, the UK's tallest living Christmas tree. The lights are a bit faint because we didn't want to hang around until dark, brrrr

5) Gold, Frankincense or Myrrh

Just gold bought and sold here !

6) (Son of a) Nutcracker

I saw this when I was Christmas shopping, before I decided on which 12 challenges to set you.

7) (on 31st Dec) New Year's Eve

New Year's Eve was very mundane - a hospital appointment for my wife then a short walk with the gun dog, geddit? ;-)

8) Something brand new

I fitted my brand new steering wheel cover onto the van today, slightly easier than changing a tyre on my bike.

9) The weather where you are

Snow from the previous evening, frozen solid onto the windscreens :-(

10) Baubles

The bags were packed, ready to go away, but this home made bauble tree was sitting on the top of the pile.

11) Christmas Past

This was nine years ago, when I was competing in tri's and doing parkrun most weekends. I'm afraid the Santa suit would look a lot more authentic on my current physique !

12) It's all over!

It's all packed up and back in the garage !

Got something to say?

Reiver

I was the usual skinny lad at school and hated cross country, even though I was quite good.
I discovered road cycling aged 21 and that has been my favourite sport ever since, but always with sporadic outbursts of running which was required for police fitness tests. In the 90's I ran the Great North Run a few times which was always done with only a few weeks build up. I discovered triathlon in my 40's and had to get the hang of swimming, then ticked off a bucket list objective when I finished Ironman UK in 2014. Now totally uninterested in swimming, the 2020 pandemic and subsequent lockdowns have kind of made the decision for me to retire from tri and just focus on cycling for fun and looking forward to resuming parkruns for the social occasions.
