I really enjoy doing the Christmas Treasure Hunts but for some reason I couldn't complete it last year. Can't remember why! ðĪ·ââïļ Anyway this year, I decided to make a bit more of a determined effort. So here goes.....
Day one December 25th/Christmas Day
Stocking
I thought I was going to fall at the first hurdle! I don't wear stockings any more! ðð What? Not that kind of stocking, you say! Just as well really. You probably wouldn't want to see that! Instead I found one of my Christmas cards had a Christmas scene with stockings in. Phew! I hadn't failed on day one!
Day two December 26th/Boxing Day
A Boxing Day Tradition
In the Ness household we'd had Christmas Day with mum and cooked her a Christmas dinner but there was loads left over so on Boxing Day we ate the leftovers. I think that might be a traditional thing in some households even if it is something we've never done before!
Day three December 27th
Christmas Wreath
That was an easy one today. Lots of the neighbours had very pretty wreaths on their doors. Here's my favourite.
Day four December 28th
Lights
Another nice easy one. Here's my Christmas tree and my light up Santa.
Day five December 29th
Gold, Frankincense or Myrrh
A bit more tricky today. Then I remembered that the medal I got from one of the half marathons I did this year had a lovely gold edging and pretty gold ribbon.
Day six December 30th
(Son of a) Nutcracker
I spent some time in the kitchen looking for a nutcracker. Mr Ness pointed out that we didn't have one (he does all the cooking here, after all so would he know). I then said I thought we had some in the garage and found this. It brought Mr Ness out in a cold sweat when I brought them into the house, but I just took a photo and didn't attempt to crack any nuts with them! ðð
Day seven December 31st
New Year's Eve
Well another easy one! New Year's Eve was on a Tuesday. What does Ness do on most Tuesdays? Those fetchies who comment on the mundane thread of the forum will be able to answer this! She goes to Wetherspoons for breakfast! ðĪŠð Here's the view from my breakfast table.
Day eight January 1st
Something brand new
I wasn't sure if I'd have anything for this but then I remembered that a couple of days prior to this, Mr Ness had splashed out on something for me. No expense spared! A pack of socks from Aldi! At least it meant I had something new to photograph! ðĪĢ
Day nine January 2nd
The weather where you are
My usual pattern of training is to run on a Thursday morning but torrential rain the previous day and clear skies overnight meant that this morning started frosty and icy so I didn't risk a run until later on in the day. The morning of the second started with a gentle walk during which I noticed the ice patterns on this car! They were so pretty, I thought they were the best depiction of the weather that day.
Day ten January 3rd
Baubles
I'd already taken my Christmas tree down at this stage. Fortunately when I was out on my walk that morning, I remembered that the local post office had a tree in its doorway, and it was still there!
Day eleven January 4th
Christmas Past
I really liked today's choice. It made me think of some of the lovely Christmas times gone by. I remembered that I'd blogged about Christmas holidays in a blog a couple of years ago. The photos for my choice for today was scanned and uploaded on to the site in December 2022 but where actually taken on December 25th 1996, when Mr Ness and I had our first overseas Christmas holiday together. We went to Tenerife. There's one photo of me swimming in the hotel pool on Christmas day and one of my enjoying a cocktail in the bar after dinner in the evening.
Day twelve January 5th
It's all over!
Today, I awoke and found that the weather forecasters were correct and we'd had some snow overnight! It was already starting to become sleety snow so I walked to the main road to test the paths. Once deciding I'd be safe to run on the main roads! Off I went. The conditions of the paths were a bit slushy but I took it nice and steady and all was OK. Once heading back to my housing estate I decided to walk the last section in case it too slippery. I didn't want to risk falling and breaking something this close to my winter holiday! At the end of my walk I paused in the nearby bridleway to take an end of run selfie. The snow was already started to melt. With any luck 'it's all over' and there will be no more snow this winter! (See what I did there!ððĪĢ)
Anyway. Thank you to @um and @Reiver for a fun challenge. Hopefully I'll be able to be a bit more imaginative with my photos next year.
