New Year activity
Anyway, that aside, a warm welcome to 2024! I've been looking forward to your arrival
We had a lovely quiet evening - hot ham, punchnep & green beans for tea. Cheese board made an appearance later on. We watched the James Bond film (well most of us did!). I went to bed when it was over and Mr AL & I listened to the fireworks. Twiglet stayed with Bonnie until they'd finished. She'd given us a bit of a fright earlier in the evening. Mr AL took her out at about 6.00pm for a last run - but a random firework exploding sent her scooting off at top speed. She came straight home - scrabbling and launching herself at the front door until I opened it, wondering why on earth Mr AL didn't just come in when it was on the latch!! It's only about 400 yards from the park entrance but involves crossing two side roads so she was really lucky. It does prove that she knows her way home I suppose. Mr AL had a very nasty 10 minutes or so though
Anyway, after all the excitements of the day she had a quiet night and didn't really stir until 7.00am.
We had an RR social run at 10.00am - so that got most of us up and moving. The sun was shining and the sky was blue which made for perfect conditions At one point we had a short shower - but there was a rainbow - I'm not superstitious but I did hope it might be a good sign!
So that's my treasure - a suitable New Year activity, and a bit more interesting than my running kit drawer, which has had a tidy
It was a nice run and a lovely start to the year.
Twiglet improving, but still getting pretty bad heachaches. She's been watching musicals all afternoon - I defy anyone not to be cheered up by Singing in the Rain.
We had the last of the ham for lunch with homemade potato pancakes (well punchnep ones anyway) so I have a pleasingly clear fridge in terms of leftovers A tiny amount of Christmas cake and a carton of custard. I'm going to have a go at turning the latter into ice cream. There's some cheese, but not too much of a mountain.
Mr AL & I took Bonnie for a walk this afternoon and she doesn't seem too scarred by her fright. She found a few dogs to play with - she loves being chased! We exchanged lots of New Year greetings with various other dog owners.
My current Garmin (the 235) may have learned that it's about to be replaced as it's thrown the most almighty hissy fit this afternoon! I've finally persuaded it to connect to my phone, and I've deleted all the history in case that helps. I'd have had to do that anyway for Mr AL to inherit it My new one is due to arrive tomorrow so I hope I can set it up in time for track training

2024 - Going well so far - loving running at the moment. Still coaching, still supported by Mr AL, Twiglet and Leaflet. Whole family now run - even Bonnie the dog sometimes.Profile | Blog | Other Blogs
