We’ve fostered a few dogs before - but they’ve always been older dogs. So when MrsJ had a message on Friday morning asking if we could foster six eight week old labradors, she of course said yes. I mean how hard could it be…
Given the need to do some puppy prep, I was up at five this morning to get my run done and out of the way. Another 19 Conquercise zones added as I continue to ‘mine a seam’ up the A1.
Back home to create a temporary puppy pen (from some fencing we had to keep the previous lot of chickens out of the veg patch, some wood recycled from an old sofa, and some brackets left over from fitting our garage door).
We then loaded a couple of crates into the car, and headed off after lunch to collect the puppies. They’re actually from a litter on nine, with three already having homes lined up.
They were quite noisy in the car on the way home, and several of them were sick. Over each other. Which they then ate. The car was humming by the time we got back.
They have enjoyed exploring the garden - including meeting the rabbit.
And seem to be into biting/chewing pretty everything - although no blood drawn yet.
They all had a bit of a snooze around tea time, but after a bit of a rest went charging around again.
There are four black ones, a golden one and a chocolate. The black ones are quite hard to photograph - and it’s hard to get them all together.
Hoping for a quiet night (particularly as MrsJ is sleeping downstairs with them). But we’ll see how that goes…
