1. Home
Strangely, this is the one I've had most difficulty with this month, with few, if any, photos actually being taken 'at home' in March. I thought about what variations I could have on "home", and came up with:
"Home is where the hearth is" instead of home is where the heart is:
but decided to go for Echo, making herself thoroughly at home on my lap:
2. Sunrise or sunset
Okay, so it's not quite a sunrise, but it's as near to it as I could manage on the day. It's Taplow Lake, where I have been swimming in sub-10° water since the start of January. Swimming through the winter was one of the things I really wanted to do. Getting up in time to get to Taplow for the sunrise was a challenge, but worth it!
3. Fave tree
Actually, I don't really have a favourite tree. But I do really like trees in blossom, they hold such promise! Although in the case of some of ours, the squirrels usually get to the cherries before we do...
4. Old building
Not really sure how old this building is, but I know it's been abandoned for at least 10 years. It used to be a hotel, and from what's left of it, it looks like it was quite nice. It's a nice location, too, which makes it all the more odd it was abandoned and left to fall apart. But it looks like it's given the local graffitti artists something to work with.
5. Interesting door
Okay, I'm cheating with this, it's not a real door. But it looks like a little pixie house, or something, hidden in the tree. This one is a real door, hidden at the side of a road. A friend thought it might be an old WW2 bomb shelter, but it turned out not to be quite so interesting, it just houses what looks like a pressure or water valve.
6. Pink
Remember I said I like trees in blossom? Well, here's a pink version.
7. Circle
The Coventry Market sign is within a circle. OH and I went to Coventry earlier this month. Coventry is one of 76 cities in the UK, and one of the ones I hadn't been to before. We're nerds, and are doing a UK Cities tour, ticking them off, one-by-one. We've seen some lovely places we wouldn't have visited in the usual run of things, and even learned a few things (see further down!)
8. Made of wood
This bench is in Stoke Common. It was designed by a 10 year old from a local school as part of an Arts in the Community initiative. There are a few of them dotted around the common. This one's called "Summer"
9. Transport
Bit of a stretch, this one, but a horse can be used as a form of transport. This one clearly can't though. It's in Coventry. I really loved the power of the piece. Apparently, it's Bucephalus, the horse that belonged to Alexander the Great. Something I learned on my UK Cities tour...
10. Beneath your feet
Okay, in this picture it's not actually beneath my feet, and to be honest, I actually spend a lot of time kneeling on it rather than standing in winter (I haven't fallen off yet, and don't want to make the first time when the water's really cold!), but I love having my paddleboard beneath my feet. You get such a completely different view of familiar surroundings when you're actually in the middle of a river, rather than walking along the bank. And it's so relaxing, one of my favourite activities.
