Hi ,
It looks like you're using an ad blocker.

The revenue generated from the adverts on the site is a critical part of our funding - and it's because of these ads that I can offer the site for free. But using the site for free AND blocking the ads doesn't feel like a great thing to do, which is why this box is so large and inconvenient. Some sites will completely block your access, but I'm not doing that - I'm appealing to your good nature instead. Did you know that you can allow ads for specific sites, whilst still blocking them on others?

Thanks,
Ian Williams aka Fetch

(71/365) Skye’s the limit

For a while now Mrs J has resolutely been saying no more pets (we’re currently at one dog, one rabbit and three chickens). We’ve been here before…

Sure enough, the rescue charity from whom we fostered and then adopted a current dog (and a few others along the way) were looking for someone to foster a dog that was recovering from hip surgery. That someone is us. Although Mrs J is adamant this is just a short term foster and won’t turn into an adoption.

Today we were due to visit younger daughter in Reading, which was a convenient mid point for us to take delivery of Skye. She’s had a dislocated hip, which couldn’t be put back (possibly due to dysplasia), so they have removed the femoral head (the ball of the ball and socket joint).

She needs to be somewhere quiet for a few weeks to recover. She settled quite quickly at our daughter’s, despite there being lots of people around.

She’s about five years old, quite small, quite skinny, and has an underbite which you can see in this picture.

She was really good in the car back from Reading, and has settled quickly at our house - although has been following us around a bit. Buzz, our resident dog, is less convinced, and keeps giving us “when is she going home” looks. I’m sure he’ll get used to her.

Not sure how long she’s going to end up staying. But definitely no more pets. For now.

Got something to say?
