I sort of do the Fetch treasure hunt when I remember, which means I have all sorts of odd photos on my phone, but probably not enough for a complete set. I'm also having trouble uploading pics today, so we'll see how this goes:
1: Something new
An early sign of spring poking up in the park, I spotted these daffodils on 18 January. I keep meaning to go back and look to see how they're doing.
2: Same old
There are some beautiful old trees in the park. I'm looking to adopt one as 'my' tree and was drawn to these wonderful bark patterns. Isn't nature a fantastic designer?
3: Look down
I do like a nice bit of fungi. Another beautiful natural pattern, this one reminded me of a flock of little butterflies.
4: Cheer up
It was a particularly grey and drizzly day when I went for an afternoon walk and spotted these colourful flags that really lifted my spirits. They were a bit too hard to get to to take a better photo. But maybe for next month's treasure hunt...
5: Blue
I could have taken any number of blue pictures but I took this one because the clouds reminded me of the patterns you get in the sand on the beach.
6: Two
I'm sure there are plenty of you that think I'm a bird brain. I am enjoying spotting and photographing our feathered friends. This pair made me think of the rhyme and 'two for joy'. We need a bit of joy in our lives don't we? Does everyone else greet a lone magpie and ask after the wife and kids?
7: More
Spotted on a day when I chose to run and sort of wished I'd opted to go for a swim. It's tricky at the moment not to be seen to be gathering for open water swimming, but I know there are always times when there are likely to be other people around for safety and our local swimmers do seem to be aware of social distancing and not being a nuisance. I haven't swum in the sea since early November as it's been a bit too wavy for me, apart from this day. So I'd like more quiet seas and more opportunities for a chilly swim please.
8: Less
I could have submitted a photo like this for a previous treasure hunt where one of the things on the list was an American President. We have lots of Washington's around here, and not too far away is Washington Old Hall, now a National Trust property linked to the family of the first president of the USA. I took this picture on 24 January, with the hope that there's less trouble in that other Washington now they have a new president.
9: Head
This fellow gave away his presence by bashing his beak loudly against the tree we were walking beneath on a photography excursion into the park. I hope he didn't have a sore head. Always a delight to see a Great Spotted Woodpecker, especially close to where I had an amazing encounter with an adult feeding its fledgeling last year. I hope that means they'll breed again this year.
10: Toe
Bit of a cheat with this one as it's a picture of my new grey trainers, featured in a previous blog. But I have hunted out some bright orange laces to jazz them up.
