we started our 60 mile, 2 day walk at Landgaurd fort at the southern end of Felixstowe
The skies were grey and the sea was moody, but the forecast rain was not around, so an easy start along the prom
We had scheduled a stop for breakfast at a cafe while we waited for the first ferry of the day to open for business.
The only rain of the day was while we were in the cafe (and met our support vehicle driven by my brothers girlfriend, Kat)
then on to the ferry to cross the River Deben.
then we headed out on a stretch with no get off points or villages for about 15 miles. we saw very few people along here
There were many Martello towers, which were built in the Napoleonic era and much more "modern" WWII constuctions, along this stretch.
The weather started to feel warm and the route started to follow the river
we stopped for refreshments, no pub or seats but we found this lonely style made a great picnic bench
The sun was feeling hot now and wooded sections were welcome, but we did have sheep baaing our way
Then we met up with Kat again as we headed into Snape and civilisation
another break and a change of socks at Snape before heading off for the last 10 miles of the day
Now its getting really hot
and then we find ourselves at sizewell, in the Vulcan Arms. This is one of my brother's locals and coincidentally the landlord was the landlord of our local when we were teenagers
I induldged in a shandy and a trip down memory lane.

i took up running after I turned 40, having never run before, and unexpectedly found I liked it. I now run a lot, usually by myself or with my dog. I had a great year in 2019 with, things got a little slow during COVID, but hopefully will pick up again. go.sparkpostmail2.comProfile | Blog | Other Blogs
