Kent veterans championships 5000m

Alun Played it cautiously because of my knee issues, 42 seconds for the first 200m seemed okay so I settled into a steady rhythm of 85-87 seconds per lap. Reeled in Tony Tuohy gradually over the next few laps, pulling clear with 4 or 5 laps to go and tried to lift my pace into the finish, a final lap of around 83 seconds was not enough to go sub 18 again but it's definitely achievable with the right conditions (no gusty breeze on the back straight!). 4th across the line in 18:04.16; 2nd M50 for the third championships in succession, this time behind Rich Tomlinson. Back again tomorrow for the 1500m! Medway & Maidstone AC 17:59 17:59 17:59 18:04.16 84.90
