Islay Half Marathon

Entrants (6) Club PB SB Pred Time WAVA
Ally C Islay Half Marathon. Enjoyable run, extremely windy on the way out on a looped course. As miles 1 to 6 were mainly up hill it was tough going however the wind on the back on the flat as we turned into mile 7 and onto 8 enabled me to claw back some time and run a decent race managing a negative split in the process. Finished really strong. I await the official time and position but I am quite happy with this one, bring on Dublin. RAF AC, Moray Roadrunners 1:19:02 1:24:29 1:26:19 68.40
bedlam_g brutal conditions 6 miles mostly uphill mostly into a gale then try to make the tail wind count. 5th place and 1st team, blew 4th and a sub 1.20 by losing a battle at mile 12 with a fife ac runner. But overall ran well quite well happy. 6.02 6.17 5.54 6.09 6.29 6.46 5.49 5.49 5.56 5.58 6.02 6.08 6.07 0.33 (5.11) Bellahouston Road Runners, Cumbernauld AAC, Kilmarnock Harriers & AC, Scottish Veteran Harriers Club 1:13:23 1:17:54 1:20:06 73.71

iceblue Absolutely delighted to get another pb at Islay! Didn't think it was going to happen as the first 6 miles were slow and hilly into a headwind. Once the wind was at my back it got a lot easier and a few sub 8mm miles got me back on track. Legs started to tire at mile 10, really struggled at mile 12 but managed to up the pace over the last mile to get a 53 sec pb. Ran from about mile 5 to the finish with John from Glasgow who kept pushing the pace along to get me my pb, big thanks for that!
