Notes & Comments

Course was 2 laps, mainly cycle path through a housing estate but to be honest I wasn't looking at the scenery. Lots of long uphill stretches, sharp corners and cycle fences meant the course was tougher than Crowle. However, I did myself no favours whatsoever by starting too fast on a hot & muggy day. By mile 2 I was burning up and staggered through the first 5k lap in my own version of running hell. Approached the halfway point & rather than lying down, stocked up on badly needed water. Started to pick up through the woods with the sun off my head then spotted an MJ in the distance and started to run him down. Last two miles were tough but had recovered sufficiently to overtake some of the guys on the uphill climb to the finish. Beat the PB but should have run much smarter in the heat.
