Boab: No way that's 40% BF. think you need to be remeasured properly -

DrBob: the scales do a calibration based on the age you put in as well. The BMI is right, anyway. -

KinkyS: That is nothing like 40%. -

clairevmc: I would agree that's never 40% - look at the definition on your arms. -

halfpint: Unless you are carrying all the fat below you waist I think your scales are wrong -

Lisa T: Totally agree with all the others. Have you got mahoosive ankles? The BMI would also indicate that you're overweight & you really don't look it from the picture at all. -

DrBob: No disputing the BMI, sadly. The BF number is silly, I agree, but I'm sure I could cut a bit of lard - just not sure how! -

tom_craggs: Time to get some new scales...or calipers. I would guess, and I test BF with athletes regularly that you are 13-14% max! -

tom_craggs: BMI is irrelevant with what appears to be a pretty high % muscle mass. Likely to give you odd results, very crude measure. -

DrBob: thanks Tom I will see if I can get a BF measurement done with calipers, it'll give a good idea of how much weight I can usefully lose in order to cycle faster.
