A friend does it with her cockapoo and they both love it. Mabel might look like the canine equivalent of an airhead but she's pretty damn good at it!

Still got a bit of cough/snot, but doesn't seem under the weather with it.

Albie isn’t well again. I’m concerned it’s a relapse of his SRMA (steroid responsive meningitis arteritis) as he’s been off the steroids now for 4 weeks. He’s lethargic and quiet, looking pathetic and off his food (this is the dog that barks at the sofa because he can smell a stale piece of kibble somewhere underneath it).
I’ve got an appointment at the referral centre tomorrow morning (they didn’t have any left today unless it’s an emergency). At least I was able to phone them and book him in directly with them as his normal vets would probably just send him to them anyway. Just got to wait and see what they say. Poor little Albie.
It’s very strange having a quiet subdued Albie again.

Thats awful news PenW. That is one of the issues with SRMA is relaspses can occur when the steroids are reduced. In one way I am thankful my Luna only got bacterial meningitis as even though she nearly died and took 6 months to fully recover, I don't think relapses are an issue with that type.
Fingers crossed it's just a bug. My daughters border collie has just had a few off days but is fine now.
Sending hugs to Albie!

Get well soon Albie and fingers crossed it's not a relapse.
We had the renewal quote for insuring Flossie with Direct Line today. Best part of £2000 for the year. A 10 year-old Lab with a history of knee problems (albeit problems that have been very successfully treated with her titanium implant) - I guess we bite the bullet and pay up (her knee op cost over £4500, all apart from £100 excess covered by insurance.) Even so it's quite a sum

We're paying just over £1k for Ollie, who has arthritis in his elbows and who had x-rays and ct-scans costing about £1500 a few years ago. He'll be 13 next month, and I do start to wonder whether he's getting to the age that we stop or downgrade the insurance - at his age if an operation costs several thousand it's likely to be sufficiently major to makes us question whether it's fair to put him through it. Hopefully that's not a decision we'll be faced with.
