Having worked at the Post Office I wouldn't say you were encouraged by the Unions to use all 20, but you certainly knew they existed. BTW, they invoked the doctor's note stuff after, I think 4 days, maybe 5, if you couldn't produce such a note you were for the high jump.

I also remember well getting disciplined for being late 3 times in a month, and they had a manager timing you coming in the front door.

Swings and roundabouts. You knew where you stood.

Anyone remember the British Leyland scandal where they had a site visit to one of the factory floors and found the entire clocked on workforce tucked up fast asleep on campbeds? :-)

Or the times when there were ghost workers whose wages were collected by the union reps? We shouldn't let these things deflect us from the fact that trade unions providing strong representation in the workplace is a good thing.

Are we have another round to whittle down (ha-ha) the remaining contenders, or have Greppers called it quits?

These days workers don't even need to turn up to work, they can log on then sleep in the comfort of their own homes.

An’ erm, employer known to me puts a lot of store by the Bradford Score.

20 days off sick in a row - four straight weeks - scores 20 and nobody bats an eyelid.

Having four single days off within a 52 week period scores 64 and a mandatory interview with your boss and HR.
