Time to learn to knit, DeeGee (I suspect if most folk tried to knit a gansey they'd realise that £350 is cheap for the time and work involved.)

[Oh, I know, having watched my wife knit a blanket, I can appreciate the effort that goes into it. 123 hours apparently goes into this gansey. I imagine it's a fantastic garment.]

(they're meant to be practically second skin, so even harder to knit than a standard pullover. I'm not sure I'd want to try my hand at one)

[Wool retains heat when wet so it's better than most materials that might be used for garments to be worn out at sea in all weathers. And I think it's traditional to knit them very tightly with wool that still has its lanolin.]
