Yes, it's the sameness: you get 5 plays of a bloke rolling the ball back with his foot, a bloke picking it up and throwing to a big bloke who bashes into the nearest big bloke from the opposition. Then on the 6th it's thrown to smaller bloke who wellies it as far downfield as he can. Repeat several times. Fall asleep.

That TOTP would need very, very little tweaking for it to describe gridiron.
Rugby league. Want to like it. Don't.

As a father of a forward I agree.
There's a 10s tournament at Cobham this weekend, G and I are going to home training with the other big lumps who don't approve of that sort of thing.

Oddly I like Gridiron. Followed it quite closely for a while, supported the Patriots when they were proper shit (1-15 seasons). Quite nice following a team that are utter filth, certain to finish last but without the haunting spectre of relegation. Once the Patriots became dominant I lost most of my interest; seemed to take the fun out of supporting them.
I once knew what 'nickel' and 'dime' backs were, for all love....

I've supported the Boston (ahem) Patriots since the earth cooled (obviously), and hence hate all the trendy 'modern' followers - so TRO 16,223 chimes with me perfectly.
Mercifully for almost the whole of this century the Northeastern Huskies have been consistently shite.
I used to, ffs, pay good money to watch the Chelmsford Cherokee. Was a good afternoon out back in the day (mid-80s at a guess). Lots of players and supporters down from the USAF places in Suffolk.

Indeed Greppers, you can stick Tom Brady and the inevitable 4th qtr comeback down the drain, a returning 40 year old Doug Flutie is what NFL dreams were made of....
