I tried a selfie with the timer, jumping, and thought: that is good enough! First take... I will never get the hang of selfies, self timers etc 😀 another newt mind!

I must find the bright floral capris I’ve only dared wear once, try them with my new red (or black) top ... and try a timer selfie.

Lovely newting everyone.

I’m struggling for purposeful newts at the moment. Today I went back to walk part of the route I cycled with a friend a couple of weeks ago. It was a lovely couple of hours.

I ran to the Barony A Frame today, which I’ve driven past many times but never stopped. This is the site of the last deep coal mine in Scotland which was closed in 1989.

I’ve a few more pictures and thoughts about it in a blog:

What a lot of lovely newting going on today - and great photos too!
Hann - glad you finally got out in your new gear :)

I have a couple newts today.
I got to make a fuss of these cuties this morning at the farm when I went to feed my friend’s horses:

I then went running with JJ Flash of this place (which is a newt in itself because we haven’t done that for at least a year) and wore some of my newt capris (which have already appeared in other people’s photos and I really liked them so had to buy a pair):

Happy days! :)

Not much in the way of newts here today. I have been feeling a bit under the weather following the jab yesterday. I did drive down to Flatford to walk Wanda which was the first time this year - I've agonised throughout lockdown whether it's 'too far' to be local but as I can walk or run there (it's a couple of miles) even though it isn't technically staying in our village I thought I was probably OK. There was hardly anyone there and Wanda had a lovely walk!

BBL I agree... I have been torturing myself over what is local. If your nearest supermarket in England is 24 miles away, is that still local? How local is your nearest supermarket in Wales, if 10 miles away? So I have come to the conclusion that going from your doorstep, in the middle of scenic nowhere, is local for at least a 10 km circle from your door! i.e. 20 kms is ok, even 40 kims within that circle.
I also think that it is acceptable to drive a couple of miles within that circle to go for a walk!

About This Thread

starblackheartstar The sixth running of Do a New Thing for Spring starblackheartstar

Lent has a special and specific meaning to Christians but has become an secular season of denial and hair shirting that serves no positve purpose. No chocolate, no booze, no -er - other stuff.

Why not treat the build up to Easter - as a chance to celebrate and embrace NEW THINGS - that's what spring is about after all.

The first few pages of the thread give more ideas.
