Will keep our eyes open for him. We'll be in the stretch south of Hartland, so I guess he'll be past us before we set off tomorrow (115 miles from Minehead to our holiday house)

Is there a tracker? I think he should have gone past the end of the 'garden' here late yesterday afternoon. (garden = 2 fields). We were back about 4ish from Morwenstow, heading north, so probably too early to see him. Actually I did think I was going to meet him, when we met a fairly bearded chap. But since he stopped for a fag at the top of the hill, and had a dog and carrying full camping kit, he didn't really look like a record attempting ultra athlete. |

Slightly inefficient walking this time - in the sense of distance walked vs 'SWCP miles covered'. Everything is by default, walking there and back, no public transport easily available. And often a km or mile from strat point to the SWCP, so 'efficency' at 30-40% ish. But marvellous weather, bright sun and regretting not packing sun tan cream. |

Excellent visibility. You’ve picked a good week. (Latest edition of the Lundy race was on Sunday. I’ve done it twice now, so couldn’t really justify the cost of going again.)

The Tamara Coast to Coast Way is a new trail which pretty much follows the boundary between Cornwall and Devon. tamarvalley.org.uk With the relevant section of the SWCP, it would allow a perambulation around Cornwall. Alternatively it offers a new coast to coast route across the South West peninsula. |

Hi 👋 Been stitching together my runs along the SWCP for years now. Probably about 15! Wish I’d been Conquercising back then or at least kept a log of the runs but it only started as a way of planning new routes round the Lizard as I would return there a couple of times a year. Certainly wasn’t the plan to complete the whole thing. Probably didn’t even have a GPS watch when I began. Currently my longest contiguous stretch is from Perranporth to Plymouth. I’ve also done Minehead to Hartland & Kingswear to Starcross. I’d hoped to extend the former to Bude (& possibly beyond) last week but this winter has rendered too much of the path unrunnable & the weather was so awful that one day was enough. Ticked off Bude-Welcombe though & then yesterday I did the section round Plymouth after doing Central parkrun. I usually do a circular (elliptical) route to avoid retracing my steps too much though I have done out & backs. I’ve also been fortunate enough, occasionally, to get dropped off at one end of a stretch & picked up at the other. How are others getting along? |
