I reckon we both have a sub 7 in us. It's just a matter of hard work, patience and injury prevention.

Great running, Muttley, and fantastic result in your 2K, Mousey. Really enjoying seeing the progress everyone's making.

Good luck tonight, Nellers!

Thanks CW & Jef.

Jef, 1:53ish it seems. Set off with 6 big strokes then settled into what I thought to be a sustainable pace. First 500 was OK. Middle 2 on the other hand really hurt, lungs not firing on all cylinders at the mo, so breathing was compromised a little. Into the final 500 I realised I was on for a 7:30 and hung on as best I could. Towards the end I thought I might even make sub 7:30, so yammed it for all I was worth, but it didn't quite happen. I think there is a lot more to come, still have plenty of training planned, and with a clean bill of health and perhaps a taper will have another go soon.

Looks nicely paced by the figures. How much of a warm up? My only suggestion would be get the stroke to 30 or above if poss BUT stroke is personal AND I don't know how big/build you are.

... and who am I to talk! I'd give my left leg for a 7:30 currently :-D

5k, Jef. I'm 1.85m & about 83kg. I take a long time to get warmed up, especially in an unheated shed. You're right about the s/r, that's something I need to address in training. Any suggestions? Mucho 30/30's perhaps?

I did 5k of warm up in the air-conned gym for my last 2k. Gawd knows what I'll need tonight.

Just home from work and I've rowed with the kids already so that's got the adrenaline going for the rowing.;-)

So pacing plan tonight is:

10 strokes hard to get moving
Drop to whatever rate I need to hold 1:49 through to half way
If I'm feeling like death hang on to that. If I'm feeling OK the hold it to 1250 and up the rate by 1, then another one at 1500, and again at 1750, then at 1900 do anything you can to get over the line.

Looks good on paper but I bet it's not as pretty on the rower!
