Hi ,
It looks like you're using an ad blocker.

The revenue generated from the adverts on the site is a critical part of our funding - and it's because of these ads that I can offer the site for free. But using the site for free AND blocking the ads doesn't feel like a great thing to do, which is why this box is so large and inconvenient. Some sites will completely block your access, but I'm not doing that - I'm appealing to your good nature instead. Did you know that you can allow ads for specific sites, whilst still blocking them on others?

Thanks,
Ian Williams aka Fetch

You do know you can run in snow *snow , don't you?! ;-)

Whilst I’m sure having the right gear helps, I think it helps if you’re confident/experienced in running in such conditions - as you seem to be G.

I’m clumsy at the best of times, and managed to faceplant the other week whilst running when there was no ice, so I’m a bit cautious when it’s icy (we rarely get proper snow round our way).

When I have run on the ice, I’ve found the same as Fenners, that it seems to be easier than walking on it.

Nice pic DT!

Run free. I wish! Like Fenners says, a good running form should be able to run smoothly on ice. However, he doesn't demonstrate a 90 degree turn to one side, drop down a step or up or down a hill in that video! :-) G

Be realistic re: pace. Don’t stress re form, speed or distance. Relax and enjoy :)

Go carefully jenny. But as DT says, also be prepared to go more slowly. The only time I have done treadmills is when I had a specific speed work session. I completely agree - def not clever trying to do intervals or tempo on icy pavements! :-) G

Although I've found yak tax more than adequate for the snow here (nr Salisbury) in recent years (none has settled so far this year) - and maybe also for the pace I run at
