Had a fantastic day the Sunday before last on Skiddaw - up via Lonscale Fell and down via Carl Side ridge. Conditions varied significantly between 1000 ft and 3000 ft:

Looks fantastic I love that Carl Side ridge, going to have to get over there soon because there's a Birkett at the end that I'm not sure I've done, must have been close though - "Watches. Is it a Synge too?
Has anyone heard of the Skiddaw House Skyline before? It's something the hostel warden came up with and I'm going to give it a go in the new year. From memory, I think it's Lonscale PIKE (i.e. not the Wainwright), Little Man, Skiddaw, Bakestall, Great Calva, Blencathra, Blease Fell and then back to the hostel. Looks quite interesting

I love that ridge too after seeing it mentioned in Bill Birkett’s Complete Lakeland Fells. His clockwise route up Skiddaw via the ridge is excellent

Very nice photos...aside from the snow and semi-whiteout conditions in the second one!

Sorry, I wasn't clear enough - we actually descended southwards from Carl Side via White Stones and had to finish with the slightly wearying road walk from Applethwaite back to the car park at the end of Gale Road.
You're all on Longside Edge, which is a lovely little ridge. We did a quick out and back to Ullock Pike, but turned before losing altitude.
