After yesterday's 20 mile LSR my plan was to pootle around a lap or two of the 10k today as a recovery run while the rest of the club raced.

Umm. Didn't quite work out like that. I started out with what I thought was a nice slow mile (I wasn't checking my Garmin), running along to my music and letting everyone go ahead of me. And then, gradually, over the next couple of miles, I started to see them all again, and then I was up with them, and then I passed some of them, and then I actively tried to overtake two more in the last 1km, and then I ran hard.

Mile splits for my 'recovery run' were:

9:01
9:05
8:45
9:00
8:36
8:18

Oops.

And then I got roped into the relays, which are 400m of pure hell. I tried my hardest, even despite saying I was only capable of jogging around, and by the last 100m I was dead on my feet.

Good job I'm mostly going to be sitting and eating this afternoon (and looking at maps with Bint :-) )

I suppose the good part of it is that I could actually run that fast today after yesterday, and that it didn't feel that fast until the end, so I must be getting a bit quicker and stronger. Was a bit daft though. This week will need to be a gentle one, I think!

That's awesome Paula :)

Nice half, not as hilly as anticipated but given my longest run since June has been 6 miles I was happy with 2.20 something. Ran-walked most of it except the road bits. Lovely to see Formerly for a 700 hug :)

:-) lovely pic
:-o Paula!
am just about to blog pic of me AR and SusanOf (hope that's right)
Enjoyed this mornings lulworth run, official times a lot slower than strava so am going with strava more than 10k too, lovely chat with AR till 7k then had a go at Channelling my Inner Bint and speeding up. Pretty course, quite bumpy, all trail, with added cake and family support. Predictor has me at 5.20 marathon now which I'll take but would prefer under 5

Welcome to the 700 miles in 2017 thread, everybody welcome :-)

The thread motto is:

'700 miles is neither necessary nor sufficient'

All you have to do is run about 1.91 miles per day or 13.46 miles per week or 58.33 miles per month and take a picture when you get to 700 miles of either you or the spot you reached the target or both if you want to. And if you go under or over 700 miles nobody will mind.

Join in the chat on the friendliest thread around - all things discussed and sometimes even some running is talked about.

Happy running :-)
