That looks a good saving. I did think the good thing about the Wainwright route is it misses Wasdale Hd.

I'm not sure it is a great saving. Personally I'd sooner descend Lords Rake than go down the totally run out descent to Foxes (which I did on my BG 11 years ago but wouldn't do now) and if you are going to avoid adding extra climb then you need to go across the climbers traverse to get to Mickledore which is slow due to it's exposure. All in all I doubt there is any significant difference between the two (Steve B was meticulous in his planning and familiar with the Foxes Tarn route, if there was a significant difference I'm pretty sure he would have spotted it). It really comes down to personal preference but won't make any difference in the long run.

Paul's total splits for Scafell to Great End were 90.40. Sabrina's schedule is 97 mins. Given she is making progress at a speed within 10% of Paul that suggests that any difference between the routes is well within 10 minutes and probably a lot less.

I wouldn't fancy either after more than 24hrs on my feet! A quick squiggle on the map shows the elevation pattern different but distance about the same.
Not been up there for many years, something I should remedy before I get even older and creakier.

I was more focused on the Scafell Pike, Lingmell, Great End variation rather than skirting around broad stand. Many have shown that is similar times for all routes.

Paul went down Lord's Rake and across to Lingmell, back up to Scafell Pike then the tourist route to Great End. Sabrina's tracker shows her going down past Foxes Tarn, up to Mickledore, Scafell Pike, across to Lingmell and then to Great End via Greta Gill and upto Long Pike.

The usual comparison of routes here is Scafell Pike to Scafell (or vice versa) on the BG and as you say there is little in it but in this case Paul went to Lingmell and in the context of this round you can't have one variation without the other, so in terms of any saving you surely have to look at the whole section between Scafell and Great End.

To do otherwise is like comparing the High Raise, Sergeant Man variation on the BG by just comparing the splits between the two (HR to SM would always win because it's largely downhill) when in reality the only meaningfull comparison is Calf Crag to Thunacar Knott (i.e. the start and end points of all the complete variation).

Yes agree - it looks similar once you look at the whole picture.
90 minutes to beat!
