[no problem with the Linds post here - replace 'student' with 'copper' and I could have written it myself]

From a software update, rather than posted at work:
Fixed: - If you opened a notebook by double-tapping your touchscreen, all the notes in it would be duplicated. Admittedly this was a bit of an overreaction, so we fixed it.

Smoking/Vaping
Following complaints received by our landlords, please be reminded that Albert House/the building is smoke/vape free in accordance with the States decision that smoking/vaping is not allowed within a space that is defined by legislation.
Both the entrance portico at Level 4 and the garage entrance via South Esplanade are covered under the legislation, as they can be deemed as either "enclosed public places" or "enclosed workplaces", the definitions of which are:- [quoted in full, which runs for several paragraphs]
Please therefore refrain from smoking/vaping on the premises.
Many thanks

Even more like Hogwarts than usual:
Dear Colleagues,
Raven is slower than usual due to heavy traffic this morning. It will be unavailable between 12:00 and 12:30 while we carry out maintenance to address this issue. Users will not be able to access any services that require a Raven password during this time. Apologies for any inconvenience caused.
Regards,

Part of the grand bird tradition. Do your Cambridge connections go far enough back for Phoenix and gcal?

Phoenix was an operating system written by the computing service to run their IBM mainframe. All the components were named after birds. gcal was an appalling pun; it was a text processor which worked similarly to things like roff, which is short for "run off". gcal in turn is short for the Latin name for the road runner, because it runs off at great speed.
