I've got the Alpkit Ti one. It's OK as a camping cup, but wouldn't use it for races - too bulky and the lid leaks too much to be any use. In terms of pack (and I can't see which you have gg as the link back on that page is now broken) if you've got the correct pockets on the front you should never have to take it off unless it's an emergency, a long CP stay, or you need a major clothing change. It took a bit of practice, but I can now get all I need for 50+ miles in the pockets of my UD vest. The only stuff in the back will be clothing, bivvy bag, first aid, emergency food, tracker, phone, etc. Stuff I'll hopefully not need. Not taking it on/off makes life a lot simpler and saves time, especially as you know exactly where everything will be. When it's dark and you're knackered not having to think about such mundane things is a real pleasure ![]() |

Thanks flanker I think what I need to do is practice wearing it and taking food / drinks on a training run as I still don’t. Must be honest the marathon I did with it I managed well as there is a few pockets. Phone pocket on my leg and back pocket too so really I can probably survive for a week if I packed myself up. Heck I might like the t anyway and might get me used to carrying stuff. I don’t intend to have a lot of things but having them accessible would be nice. |

James Elson had a good video on YouTube, or maybe the centurion site, about packing for a 50/100 mile race

I’ve always used the light my fire cup which is good enough for me. But I think some events won’t allow flexible cups for hot drinks The hydrapak “speed cup” and similar are awful. Just about passable for cold drinks and really dangerous for hot drinks. You might as well take a condom with you. |
