Hi ,
It looks like you're using an ad blocker.

The revenue generated from the adverts on the site is a critical part of our funding - and it's because of these ads that I can offer the site for free. But using the site for free AND blocking the ads doesn't feel like a great thing to do, which is why this box is so large and inconvenient. Some sites will completely block your access, but I'm not doing that - I'm appealing to your good nature instead. Did you know that you can allow ads for specific sites, whilst still blocking them on others?

Thanks,
Ian Williams aka Fetch

First run on tarmac for my VFs today. The bouncy-platform sensation was rather disconcerting on descents at first but I'd got used to it after a few miles.

Otherwise, 27s off my season's best for parkrun on the same course, which amounts to a 1.9% improvement. No more than could be explained by chance alone. But the same percentage improvement in my 10-mile race in 2wks would be very welcome.

Vaporfly PB strikes again, Bushy Park parkrun, 16:20, previous best 5k and parkrun time was 16:58. First time at Busy Park, first 200m across grass was interesting but then when on the paths VF’s worked great, ran “naked” as watch froze on start.

Still stoically resisting.

(Though I did look on ebay to see if there were any used pairs in my size...)

Thanks Gobi. Chris, I have to put some of the improvement down to not having a watch to look at and see the pace and think wow that's too fast I need to slow down but I have no doubts the shoes are a contributor as well :)

I did some Vaporfly acclimatisation in a 10-mile race today. The course was undulating and, as before, I didn't think the Vaporflys gave me any help at all going downhill and even felt a bit wobbly underfoot on steep descents, but they may have helped on the uphills and where I really felt them was on the one flat section on each of the two laps, when they were suddenly like, "Boing! THIS is what we're for!" Since I got them for a flat marathon, that bodes well.

I was pleased with how untroubled my legs felt after the race even though I'd run hard.

@velociraptor - the "how untroubled my feet felt after" are the main reason i love them so much.

It was quite surreal being able to stand around to chat and to wait for the prizegiving afterwards with my legs not getting sore or wriggly. This morning it's as if the race didn't happen, which I'm not taking as meaning anything because I'm perfectly capable of clearing the evidence of a 10-mile race out of my legs overnight when I run in my usual daps.

I had mine on yesterday as my body fell apart

Sadly I am in a world of pain today

So although they are good they are not magic
