Magical marathon pacing that Rossco Peeko

Cheers for pointing out my mistake Windsor Wool Must've hit B instead of C at which point it chose the only option - I never even saw the options.

Well done Rossco - brilliant sub 3, and yeah, the splits look really good, but I bet there's a tale of hard working at the end there. I look forward to reading a full blow by blow blog please!

Club mate of mine, over 5, went 2:49 to PB again at Chicago yesterday. Amazing V50s in our club! :-) G

Massive PB Rossco, and fantastic split.

It's amazing how many really good v50 and older athletes there are now G. In 2013 there were only ~80 sub 3:00 v50s, this year there's over 120, and that doesn't include the London and Chicago results yet.

Feeling somewhat undertrained, and rather clueless as to what pace I've actually got in me!

I've skipped/shortened quite a lot of training sessions (heavy workload scuppered many a planned lunchtime run, and the new pup made early morning runs much harder to fit in). I am however niggle free for the first time in ages, and I did manage a couple of sub-20 parkruns.

I'm genuinely not sure I'll be reclaiming 3:15 this weekend, and would predict anything in the ridiculously wide band of 3:15 to 3:45! If 3:15 pace feels right from the start, I'll give it a go. If the pace doesn't feel right, I'm more likely to wimp-out/ease-up than embrace the discomfort!

I've had a quick look through your training Fergus and would concur with your wide band. It looks like your A,B,C targets are 3:15, 3:30 and 3:45. You've certainly cot the speed but that lower training volume might make sticking to 7:20 for 26 miles quite difficult. Like you say give it 3-5 miles at target A pace and if it becomes uncomfortable wind down to a slower pace. You've obviously got enough experience to realise that but it's always a good idea to remind yourself how things can go wrong in a marathon if you overdo it early on. Good luck on Sunday.
