I seem to have done a min-Marcothon without realising it. So tempting to continue...

I plucked up courage today to reduce the injury on Fetch down to 0, so I'm feeling properly back in the game. But still sticking to my slow comeback with 1 fast effort per week plan. Plenty of time before Manchester, the mojo and confidence is slowly returning.

XC this weekend will be my tempo, it's a new course to the League so would be churlish not to bimble around, and no arbitrary time targets or history of performance there to worry about.

How's the knee, Baz? Thought of you as I slipped and slided my way to work on the ice this morning - fortunately I managed to stay upright.

Knee is fine thanks. Just a small graze. It’s the DOMS in my quads from the hill running that are the problem.

If someone speedy didn't want to go Vaporfly for a fast marathon, what would be a good racing shoe recommendation?

Does not compute. What nonsense have you been filling his head with? What is his specific objection?

Lol, he's got his own mind! I think the phrase that came down the line to me was "shoe doping" and a bit of a tirade about Nike being a poisonous influence on athletics (not a view I share!).

The world of racing shoes, vaporflys or not, is not one I'm up to speed with!

All the manufacturers have a "marathon shoe" in their line up.

My recent ones were New Balance 1400v5 ( probably a later v number now ) and Adidas Adios. Both were nice light shoes but with enough support and cushioning.
