EP it's not difficult(*) to change a will after the fact and make a chunk of the bequest pass directly to the next generation, ruling out any such issues a priori.

*usually. My sister, on the other hand.....but that's a long story and not a typical case.

And thanks all for the good wishes. Feel a bit of a fraud as we'd been sort of semi-retired for a while but it's still nice to have made a clear decision with my wife that we won't be seeking out anything new now.

I do have some minor ambitions for hobbies and travel to fill up the acres of spare time stretching before me...

EP it's a "deed of variation", the basic principle is that so long as anyone who is made worse off by the changes, agrees to them, then everything works as if the will was originally written that way. Entirely normal, every solicitor will have done it dozens of times to cover your sort of situation.

I too am thinking of getting a Christmas temp job - purely to keep me busy in winter months/social too and can top up holiday pot too - but then I think do I really want to?
